Mrs. A. O. Berdahl Dead
Passed Away at Her Sherburn Home Saturday Afternoon
Mrs. Anfin O. Berdahl died at her home in Sherburn, Minnesota Wednesday of Dropsy and Bright’s disease. The remains were brought here Saturday afternoon and funeral services were held from the Norwegian Lutheran church at 3:30 the same afternoon. Burial was made in the Norwegian cemetery beside the remains of her son, Herman, who died August 13, 1911. [Burial actually appears to be in East Side Cemetery.}

Julia Johnson was born in Norway in June 1853. She came to Emmet county with her parents in 1865. Her father was Hans Johnson, lately deceased, who settled on a farm near Gruver when coming to the county. She was married to Anfin O. Berdahl February 12, 1873. Twelve children were born to this union. Four children are dead. The living children are: Mrs. P. N. Peterson of Wallingford, Mrs. Ike Riggs, Mrs. Fred Kruse, Miss Emma Berdahl, Miss Jeddie Berdahl, Miss Jessie Berdahl, Ole Berdahl, and Martin Berdahl. All were present to attend the funeral. Mrs. Berdahl was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church. During her long residence in this county she made hosts of friends who hasten to extend sympathy to the family in sorrow. Mrs. A. O. Berdahl died at her home in Sherburn, Friday, December 22nd, after a brief illness. Deceased was a pioneer resident of Emmet county, coming here nearly forty years ago and settling in Center township. Four years ago with her husband she moved to Sherburn. A large family of children are left to mourn her sudden demise. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, December 27, 1911)
