ESTHERVILLE-Funeral services for Mae Schaper, 95, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 12 in the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Paul Wiegman officiating. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. She died on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Friday.

Mae was born on Sept. 4, 1908 in Estherville, the daughter of Ed and Victoria (Kriebs) Kirchner. She received her education in Emmet County schools.

On May 25, 1932, she was united in marriage to William Schaper in Jackson, Minn. Following their marriage, the couple farmed north of Estherville until 1952. William died January 23, 1952.

Mae continued to live on the farm until 1956 whe she moved into town. She worked at Young Studio, the Gambles Store, Christensen Jewelry and the Good Samaritan Center. She has helped at the Emmet County County Historical Museum for many years.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Estherville.

She is survived by her daughters, Rosalie Demoney and her husband, Edwin of Arlington, Va., Donna Schaper of Boulder, Colo.; granddaughter, Lisa Demoney of Oakland, Calif.; and one brother, Roy Kirchner and his wife Lorraine of Estherville.

She has been preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, Elmer Kirchner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rosewood Manor or the Historical Museum.
