Mrs. August Schaper Dies

Mrs. August (Dorothy Jean) Schaper, 57, died at 7:30 a.m. yesterday, Christmas morning, at Holy Family Hospital after an illness of six months.

She was born July 10, 1911, in Omaha, Neb., to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rhodes and attended Sioux City schools and Morningside College.

She was married Sept. 3, 1942, to August Schaper at Jackson, Minn. She came to Estherville in 1939 and before her marriage was a state social welfare worker.

A member of the Federated Woman's Club, she was also first president of the Holy Family Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the KYN Country Club and belonged to the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, August; a son Ronald of Des Moines; and a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Sharon) Svensen of Rochester, Minn.; a grandson; two brothers, Gene Rhodes of La Cruze, N.M., and a brother Fred Rhodes of Pasadena, Calif.

Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.

Family services are to be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church; public services at 2, the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home until noon Friday.
