Elmer E. Crumb
County Pioneer
Dies Suddenly
Elmer E. Crumb, 75, one on Emmet county’s most highly respected pioneer citizens, passed away at his home northeast of Estherville last Thursday [December 2] afternoon. A sudden and severe heart attack was said to be the cause of death.

Mr. Crumb came to this county 71 years ago at the age of four. His parents moved here and homesteaded the farm Mr. Crumb occupied at the time of his death.

In past years Mr. Crumb was interested in every activity in the city and county. He was very fond of horses and was always interested in fairs and farm exhibitions.

The funeral services were held on Saturday from the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel at two o’clock and at 2:30 from the Baptist church, the Rev. J. Albert Riggs officiating, assisted by the Rev. Claude Fausmaugh of the Presbyterian church.

Mr. Crumb leaves to mourn his death one son, Frank, and daughter, Mrs. Paul Weir of Estherville. (The Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 9, 1937)
