Death of John Crumb
Wednesday morning our citizens were surprised at the news of the death of John Crumb, which occurred early that morning. The deceased had been ailing for nearly three weeks, but no one supposed that his sickness was necessarily of a fatal character, even up to the day of his death. Mr. Crumb has been a citizen of Emmet County for nearly twenty years and has lived a peaceable, quiet and unassuming life, always doing his part in a manly way, and consequently enjoyed the respect of a large circle of friends. His wife, and the children most of whom are grown up, have the sympathy of all friends and acquaintances. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. M. Glasgow in the large school house just built in Ellsworth township, which was crowded to its utmost capacity by a large concourse of friends and neighbors anxious to pay this last tribute of respect to his memory.
