Mrs. Jake Stockburger Died Suddenly This Morning From a Heart Attack
Mrs. Jack Stockburger passed away suddenly this (Thursday) morning at 10:45 o’clock at her home on north Sixth street. Her death was caused from a heart attack.Mrs. Stockburger apparently had been in good health prior to her death and had been caring for her husband who has been seriously ill. She was 75 years old.
Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Roy Stockburger. He has been working at the defense plant near Rollins, Mo., and yesterday had been notified of the critical illness of his father. He is on his way back to Estherville and is expected to arrive here some time today.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed pending the son’s arrival. The body is at the Sternberg Funeral home. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 27, 1941)
Mrs. Jake Stockburger, 75, a resident of Emmet county for more than 40 years, died suddenly at 9:30 a.m., March 27th from a heart attack at the Stockburger home on 916 N. Sixth street. Mrs. Stockburger had not been in good health for some time, but was not taken seriously ill until the morning she passed away.
The Stockburgers moved to Emmet county about 1899 from Perry. They were married on March 3, 1896, at Perry and lived there three years.
Mrs. Stockburger is survived by her husband, one son, Roy Stockburger of Estherville; one brother, Walter Spencer of Terril; one sister, Mrs. Lucila Boner of Plainfield, Ill., and five grandchildren. Mrs. M. E. Huckaba is a sister-in-law of Mrs. Stockburger.
Funeral services were held at the Stockburger home on north 6th street, Sunday, March 30th, at 2:00 o’clock and at the Methodist church at 2:30, with the Rev. Ortmeyer in charge. Burial was in the family lot in the Oak Hill cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 8, 1941)
