Mrs. Sarah Shultz Was Born in England
Sarah Jane Fitchett, daughter of George and Rebecca Fitchett, was born Aug 25, 1867, in Braughton, England, and died June 6 at Holy Family hospital following a lingering illness.

She came with her parents to the United States as a small child, and her family settled first in Wisconsin, and in 1876 moved to Newell where Mrs. Shultz grew to womanhood.

Dec. 25, 1889, she was married to William John Shultz at Newell where the couple lived until 1914, then moved to a farm near Huntington. Five years later they moved to the Gruver community and farmed there until the death of Mr. Shultz in 1930. Since that time Mrs. Shultz has been living with her children.

She early joined the Methodist church in Newell, but when she moved to northern Iowa, worked in the Presbyterian church. For many years she was a member of the Beth Eden Rebekah lodge of Gruver, and also of Pythian Sisters of Estherville.

At death she was 82 years and nine months of age. She is survived by five sons, Fenton Shultz of Newell, Lyle and Bert Shultz of Estherville, Lee Shultz of Gruver and William Shultz of San Diego; two daughters, (Eunice) Mrs. Lynn Weir of Estherville, and (Hazel) Mrs. Andrew Peterson of Gruver; three brothers, J. T. Fitchett of Newell and Steve and Earl Fitchett of Oklahoma; three sisters: Mrs. Fannie Vories of Oklahoma, Mrs. Ruth Muxlow of Independence and Mrs. Muriel Schockley of Wilton, Minn.; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 19, 1950)
