Our friend and neighbor, Mr. E. Ankrum, was born April 12th, 1880, in Gifford, Iowa, and died by railway accident, at Sherburn, Minn., Feb. 17, 1919; aged 38 years, 10 months and 5 days. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Upton, Jan. 23, 1902. Mrs. Ankrum and the five children mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. They have lived in this city about 8 years. In this time they have endeared themselves to a host of friends. Mr. Ankrum was respected as a man and was a faithful and trusted employee of the railway company for which he worked. He was known as one of the trusted engineers of his road. How our hearts were shocked when we heard of his sudden death. He and his family were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church here in Estherville and he was always faithful in attendance upon the services of his church. One of the pleasant things to remember in this time of sadness Is that he made a special trip back home that he might attend the Father and Son banquet last week with his boys. His pastor remembers also with gratitude that last Sabbath morning he sat between his son's in the morning church service and was also present in the Sabbath School and in the evening worship. His life has been brief, but he has won the respect ml confidence of those who knew him. He has given his children a name and example that stands for integrity and worth. Sobriety and faithfulness in duty and faith and devotion and kindness in the home and in all business associations were prominent characteristics of this man. His companions In dully toil all say that a mighty fine man has gone. It is needless to say that the mother and children have the sympathy of the entire community. Funeral services were held In the Methodist Episcopal church, Friday of last week, conducted by the pastor, Walter Torbet.
