Wednesday Rites for Mrs. Karlsven
Funeral services for Mrs. Colman Karlsven, who died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, will be held Wednesday afternoon at Estherville Lutheran Church. A family service will be held at 1:30 p.m., followed by a public service at 2. The Rev. Roy Hendricksen will officiate. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Mrs. Karlsven was receiving treatment, at the hospital for a broken hip when she suffered a fatal heart attack.
She was born Aug. 6, 1895, at Radcliffe, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. John Hodnefield. She attended Radcliffe schools.
The Karlsvens were married May 22, 1922, at Lake, Minn. They farmed in the Lakefield area until their retirement in 1948 when they moved to Estherville.
Mrs. Karlsven was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church and was active in women's affairs of the church.
She is survived by her husband, a son, George of College Park, Md.; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Florence) Jesmain, Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Lewis, Oscar, and William Hodnefield of Lakefield; two sisters, Mrs. John Karlsven of Lakefield, and Selman Hodnefield of Windorn.
She was predeceased by her parents and one sister.
Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville after 9 a.m. Tuesday, and until noon on Wednesday.
