ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Marjorie Russell, 89, of Estherville will he held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at First Christian Church in Estherville with Pastor Doug Button officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died on Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
Visitation will he held from 4-8 p.m., with the family present from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
Marjorie Agnes Russell the daughter of Earl and Zella (Hicklin) Bentley was born June 22, 1916 near Delta, Iowa. She passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 89.
As a young child, the family lived in the Armstrong, Iowa area where she began her early education until they moved to their farm in Minnesota. She attended grade school in rural Minnesota and graduated from High School in Jackson, Minnesota.
The family moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa where she met and married Wayne Russell on March 20th, 1937. In 1940, their one son Gary was born. The family moved to Jackson, Minnesota until 1947 when they moved to Estherville. Marjorie worked at Stafford's and the Estherville Drug for many years. Wayne and Marjorie spent winters in Texas after their retirement. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in March of 1997. Wayne died in September of 1997.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Estherville since 1949. Marjorie taught Sunday School and was a member of the church choir.
Left to cherish Marjorie's memory is her son, Gary; her granddaughters, Julie Thraen and her husband, Gary all of Harlan, Iowa; and Sheryl Garman and her husband, LeRoy of Yutan, Nebraska; three great-grandchildren, Jason and Courtney Thraen and Zachary Garman; sisters, Myrtle Caskey and her husband, Roy of New London, Minnesota; Ruth Fedderson of Estherville; Madge Voss of Spirit Lake and many nieces and nephews. She has been preceded in death by her husband, parents and daughter-in-law, Janice Russell.
