Jens J. Rovn, Well-Known Farmer, Dies

Jens J. Rovn, 84, pioneer Denmark township farm, died at 10 a.m. [May 20, 1952] at his home. He had been ill for the past six weeks and died of a stroke.

Mr. Rovn was born in 1868 in Denmark and came to the United States when he was 17. He settled in the Ringsted community and began farming there after his marriage, before the town of Ringsted was established. He retired five years ago but continued to live on the farm. He and Mrs. Rovn celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary about a month ago.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran church at Ringsted and held a life membership in the Danish Brotherhood of America.

Surviving his death are his wife; five sons, Lehman of Estherville, Martin of Armstrong, Ralph of Armstrong, Arnie of Ringsted, Brady of Algona; four daughters, Mrs. Merle Rasmussen of Ringsted, Mrs. Della Nash of Cherokee, Mrs. Esther Edwards of Centerville. and Mrs. Velinda Nelsen of Ringsted. He also is survived by a sister living in Denmark.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at St. John's Lutheran church. Time of the service will be announced later. The Rev. Paul Wickman will officiate.
