Joseph Rokenbrodt was born July 19, 1846 in Sharon, Walworth County, Wisc and died October 21, 1940 at the home of his son, Hugh, near Jackson, Minn. at the age of 94 years, three months and two days.

His childhood was spent on a farm. On December 13, 1870, he was united in marriage to Emma Vorman of Beloit, Wis. To this union four children were born, tow daughters, who died in infancy, and two sons, Fred of Wallingford, and Hugh of Jackson, Minn. who survive.

In March, 1886 they came to Emmet County and purchased a farm near Ryan Lake, which was their home until 1923, when they moved to Wallingford. In January 1928, his wife died, and two years later he became blind and has since made his home with his sons.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his sons and seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 23 at one o'clock in the home of his son in Jackson and at three o'clock in the Estherville Methodist church. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
