Rokenbrodt Rites To Be Wednesday
Fred Rokenbrodt, 80, of Gilmore City, former Wallingford rural mail carrier, died at Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge at 10:30 Saturday night.
Born on Aug. 29, 1874 at Sharon Wisc., he came to Iowa in 1885 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rokenbrodt, and settled on a farm near Ryan Lake. Mr. Rokenbrodt was married to Sarah Shaw on March 24, 1896. They had four children. One son, Dwight, preceded Mr. Rokenbrodt in death at 19 years of age.
A rural mail carrier at Wallingford for 30 years, he retired at 65, on Sept. 1, 1939, and soon after purchased a home at Gilmore City, where he and Mrs. Rokenbrodt had lived since.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Clarence E. Miller of Gilmore City, Mrs. F.G. Weir of Estherville; a son, Floyd of Humboldt; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one brother, Hugh, of Alpha, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at the Sandin Funeral Home at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon with the Reverend Sterner of Gilmore City officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
