Mrs. Joseph Rokenbrodt died at her home in Wallingford, Wednesday, January 4, at the age of 75 years, after an illness brought by the infirmities of old age. This esteemed lady had made her home in Emmet County since March 1886 when the family purchased a farm in High Lake township and where she resided until five years ago. Since then, she had lived in Wallingford with her husband.
Emma Rosalie Vroman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vroman, was born in Rock County, Wisconsin on September 20, 1852. She spent her early girlhood on her parents farm. On Dec. 13, 1870 she was united in marriage to Joseph Rokenbrodt at Beloit, Wis. Four children were born to this union, Minnie Luella, who died in infancy; Fred Wilder of Wallingford; Hugh Henry of Menominie, Wis. and twin sister who also died in infancy. Besides her husband and two sons, Mrs. Rokenbrodt is survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Estherville on Friday afternoon at three o'clock and internment made in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The deceased lady had a wide circle of friends She was a woman of unusual intelligence, taking an active interest in the affairs of the community as well as in the welfare of her family. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church since her early childhood and for many years acted a correspondent from High Lake township for the Vindicator and Republican. Her life was a full one, well spent in her loving care of her home folks and in kind deeds among her neighbors and friends.
