ESTHERVILLE - Funeral Services for Eunice Petersen, 85, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Susan Stone, officiating. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville. She passed away Wednesday, Aug.24, 2005 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
Eunice Iona Petersen the daughter of Julius M. and Emelie (Sevold) Anderson was born September 14, 1919 in Wallingford, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 85.
She received her education in Gruver Schools, graduating from Gruver High School. She worked at the Children's Home in Beresford, South Dakota. She went on to attend Waldorf College. Then returning to Estherville, Eunice worked at the County Treasurer's Office for eleven years.
On May 17, 1958, she was united in marriage to Leonard Petersen at her parent's home in Estherville. They farmed the place where Leonard had lived since he was four years old. They moved into Estherville in 1981 and Leonard retired from farming in 1982. They enjoyed friends, lots of travel and fishing. Leonard died in 1988.
Eunice and Leonard were active members of Estherville Lutheran Church. They loved Jesus and wanted to live for Him.
Left to cherish Eunice's memory are her sisters, Florence Ness and Mildred Anderson of Estherville, her nieces and nephews and their children and special friends, Jeffrey Zerke and Emi Urakami and their children, Andrew and Miyuki.
She has been preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, and sister Alva Sunde.
