RINGSTED, Iowa -- Services for Clarence L. Petersen, 86, of Ringsted will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ringsted. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Ringsted.

Petersen died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at Valley Vue Care Center, Armstrong. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, Ringsted.

Clarence L. Petersen was born July 20, 1912, in Seneca Township, north of Fenton, son of Carl and Emma (Skow) Petersen. He graduated from Seneca High School. He then farmed with his father. He married Amelia Madsen on June 30, 1940, in Ringsted. They farmed in the Seneca Township area and moved to Ringsted in 1948. He worked in Ringsted as a carpenter, did tiling work and worked at Arts-Way Manufacturing in Armstrong, until he retired in 1976.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ringsted, RSVP, BABES Program, Dinner Date Program, was past Boy Scout leader and committee member, member of Ringsted Volunteer Fire Department and Ringsted town band.

Survivors include: wife, Amelia Petersen of Ringsted; sons, Richard Petersen and wife, Carolyn, of Sioux Falls, S.D., Wayne Petersen and wife, Mary, of Coolidge, Ariz., Robert Petersen and wife, Gayle, and Jerald Petersen, all of Ringsted, and Glen Petersen and wife, Katherine, of Polk City; daughter, Esther Tripp and husband, Leonard, of Lu Verne; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grand-children; sister-in-law, Irene Petersen of Ringsted; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
