Death of Mrs. Guri Paulson
After an illness of several months of a complication of diseases incident to old age, Mrs. Guri Paulson passed away early Saturday morning [1 Nov 1913] at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. K. Groth, on south Tenth Street. Deceased was born in [Aal, Hallingdal] Norway September 24th, 1816, and was united in marriage to Lars (Americanized to Lewis) Paulson from Hol, Hallingdal in 1843. In 1857 they came to America, locating in Dane county, Wis., where they resided until 1860, when they came to Emmet county. Deceased resided here continuously from that time until her death. There were eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Paulson, five sons and three daughters, of whom only two survive, Mrs. T. O. Berg and Mrs. H. K. Groth, both of this city. Deceased was one of the pioneer residents of this county and lived a true Christian life. Brief funeral services were held at the Groth home at eleven o'clock Monday forenoon, conducted by Rev. J. J. Akre. The remains were then taken to the Lutheran church, east of Wallingford, where services were again held, conducted by Rev. Paulsrud, and interment was beside her deceased husband in the cemetery near that church. The Democrat extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
