Gunder Paulson Nesheim [Nesheim was his surname in Norway; it was the name of the farm where he was born.] died at his home in Jack Creek township, Emmet county on January 11, 1901, at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 13 days after a severe sickness of ten long weeks. The remains were taken to the Norwegian Lutheran church where a sermon was preached over the remains by Pastor Strand. They then proceeded to the High Lake burying grounds where they were entered for their last resting place.

He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his death of which all were present at his funeral. They were Mrs. Julia McNamara and Mrs. Petrine Nelson of Emmetsburg, Mrs. Christina Christian of Farewell township, Palo Alto county, and Paul G. Paulson, Peter G. Paulson and Simon G. Paulson who are all staying at home. He has three brothers and two sisters of which two brothers and one sister reside at Lake Mills, Ia., and one brother at Forest City, Ia., and the other sister in Nebraska. He was born in Norway, March 29, 1829.

He was married in the spring of 1866 to Miss Anna Peterson, daughter of Peder Anderson and Guri Halvorson Vambheim of Ulvik, Hardanger, Norway. The same year he came to America, locating in Taylor county, Ia., removing the next year to Linsboro, Fillmore county, Minn., where they remained for five years and in 1872 settled in Emmet county.
