Services for Nora Pearl Martyr, 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27 at the First Christian Church, Estherville with the Reverend Steve Allen officiating. Friends may call 4-9:00 p.m. Monday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Saturday, November 24, [1990] at the Holy Family Hospital.

She was born May 2, 1906 in Wallingford, the daughter of Lewis B. and Petra (Wolden) Nelson and was educated in the Estherville school system. She married Orlando "Bob" Martyr on July 18, 1933 in Spirit Lake and the couple lived in Estherville until 1962 when they moved to Yelm, Washington. They later lived in Gig Harbor, Washington before returning to Estherville in 1988 where they have lived since. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband and one brother: LaVerne Nelson of Geneva, Minnesota; five sisters: Mrs. Gladyce Robinson, Spearfish, South Dakota; Mrs. Bertha Olson, Wallingford; Mrs. Wayne (Lila) Bryan, Estherville; Mrs. Palma Pool, Geneva, Minnesota; and Mrs. Gilford (Myrtle) Osher, Wallingford. other survivors include one son, George Martyr and his wife Elaine of Mesa, Arizona, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
