ESTHERVILLE - Services for Nelda Echternacht, 96, Brainerd, Minn., formerly of Estherville, were held Monday, 2 p.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with the Rev. John Bowe of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, She died Friday, April 29, 1983 at Brainerd.

Nelda Fry was born Oct. 9, 1886 at VanHorn, the daughter of U.S. and Clara Fry. She attended Van Horn schools and was a graduate of Cornell College at Mt. Vernon in 1908. She taught school several years at Vinton before her marriage in 1912 to Estell Echternacht. The couple lived at Ft. Dodge before moving to Estherville in 1919. In 1925 they moved to a farm at Alpha, Minn, and 1950 moved back to Estherville. Mr. Echternacht died in 1952. Mrs. Echternacht continued to reside in Estherville until a few months ago when she took an apartment in Brainerd.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church; P.E.O. and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Jack Echternacht and his wife of Brainerd; three grandchildren: Mrs. Mark (Jean) Ness, Mrs. James (Jane) Hallas both of Minneapolis, Jon Echternacht, Green Bay, Wis.; three greatgrandchildren; a niece, Mrs. Mildred Stow, Dolliver.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter; her parents; four sisters and one brother.
