Services for Pfc. Erickson Here Wednesday

Tho body of Pfc. Paul R. Erickson is being returned Wednesday to Estherville for reburial. Erickson was son of Mr. and Mrs. Einer Erickson, Des Moines.

Paul was fatally wounded April 20, 1945 while on a mopping up operation with the infantry on Luzon, Philippines. Ho was a member of the 178th infantry, 32nd Red Arrow division, 8th army. Previous to his last battle, he had fought through New Guinea, Dutch East Indies, and Leyte island in the Philippines.

Erickson was inducted into service July 9, 1942 and received his training at Camp Robinson, Ark., and Camp Butler, N. C., and went overseas in January, 1944.

Tho deceased was born Oct. 30, 1919 at Pomeroy and early In life moved with his parents to Petersburg. He attended high school in Petersburg and went to junior college in Estherville. Following completion of his education, he farmed for a while before entering the service.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Carl at Pomeroy and Bernard at Perry, and three sisters Naomi, Darlene and Dorothy at home in Des Moines.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and 2 p. m. nt Oak Hill cemetery at Sternborg Funeral chapel with Rev. E. V. Carlson of Pomeroy officiating. Burial at Oak Hill.

The American Legion and VFW will have charge of the graveside services. Veterans who wish to meet the train Wednesday morning are requested to meet at the city hall at 7 a.m. Firing squad members and pallbearers will meet 1 p.m. Thursday at city hall.
