In Response To: St John Lutheran Dubuque (Mary Ann)

I am writing in response to your Preitauer posting. This is just an interesting tidbit that I thought you might be interested in. I am not related, that I know of. However, I have in my possession a photograph taken at a Preitauer studio on 1542 Clay Street in Dubuque Iowa. The photo is one of my relatives probably. Still unidentifiable. However, since your Preitauers were in Dubuque it's likely that the studio was owned by one of your kin. You could look through city directories and maybe find some new information if you didn't already know this. I'd say the photo is circa 1920's. The man is standing by a lectern wearing a dark tweedish (wool?) suit with high-water cuffed pants and white shoes. Quite the outfit. The collar of his shirt is rounded rather than pointed and he's wearing a tie if that gives us any indication of the era. Just thought I'd pass this along since anyone doing genealogy research is sometimes desperate for any little bit of new information. Hope this isn't old news to you. My relatives in Dubuque were Catholic Gribben's. Let me know if this is new info. I'd love to hear from you.
