I was born in La Crosse, La Crosse Co., WI, the daughter of Earl Duane Gantenbein, born in New Albin, Allamakee Co. Iowa...his father (my Grandfather)was John Charles Gantenbein of New Albin...Eitzen, MN and La Crosse, WI.

Earl Duane was a first cousin of Milt Gantenbein.
Both grew up in New Albin, IA.
John was a commercial fisherman on the Missippi River.
John and his wife Laura Belle Marsden (raised by Joseph Smith and his wife, Louise or Louisa, following Laura's mother Mary Lombard Marsden of Lansing, IA passin after (3 days) giving birth to Laura.
