FARLEY, Ia. -- Special: Herman Sahm, 87, retired Dubuque County farmer, died at 2:15 o'clock Thursday morning at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque following a week's illness.
The body was transferred to the Sanner Funeral Home here and later to the family residence near Bankston from where the funeral will be held at St. Clement's Church at Bankston at 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Sahm was born September 24, 1853, in Dubuque, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gotfried Sahm. He was married April 19, 1887, at Lattnerville to Miss Margaret Lardy and they lived in that community for seven years, after which they settled on the farm near Bankston.
Surviving are four daughters: Sister Mary Ruth of the Presentation Order at Mason City, Mrs. John Ernzen and Nellie, both of Bankston and Mary at home; two sons, John of Rickardsville and Louis at home; one brother, Richard of Graf; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two daughters.
