Dalven W. "Whitey" Dean, 64, of 4144 Bluebird Drive, died at 1:15 a.m. Friday. Oct. 10, 2003, at home.
Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where friends may call after 3 p.m. today. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Dean worked at the former Dubuque Packing Co. for 24 years until his retirement.
He was born on July 12, 1939, in Cuba City, Wis., son of Donald and Irma (Burbach) Dean. He married Barbara Droeszler on Sept. 15, 1973, in Brunswick, Maine.
He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 150A. He loved to travel, especially on his Goldwing. He also loved to do craft work.
Surviving are his wife, Barb; a son, James, of Dubuque; a daughter, Peggy (Rick) Pickering, of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Elmer) Bleile and Donna (Lee) Bobo, both of Dubuque; and a brother, Dorrance (Sherry) Dean, of Kieler, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leonard.
In lieu of flowers, a Dalven "Whitey" Dean Memorial Fund has been established.
