Sister Helen Marie (Mary Beata) Hackett, BVM

Sister Helen Marie (Mary Beata) Hackett, BVM, 87, of Marian Hall, 1050 Carmel Drive, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Marian Hall.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Marian Hall Chapel. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. The Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Helen Marie was an elementary school teacher in Chicago; Butte, Mont.; Lincoln and Omaha, Neb.; and Wichita, Kan.

She was born on June 13, 1916, in Kelly, Kan., daughter of James C. and Freda (Schaefer) Hackett.

She made her first profession of religious vows on March 19, 1938, and her final profession on Aug. 15, 1943.

Surviving are a sister, Irene (James B.) Henning; and a nephew, James R. Henning, of Tallahassee, Fla.; and the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with whom she shared life for 68 years.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity, BVM Retirement Fund.
