Mrs. Raymond E. (Carmen L.) Bradfield, 84, of 1730 Bristol Drive, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Windsor Park Chapel, 801 Davis St., where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1918, in Delhi, Iowa, daughter of Charles F. and Juanita (Bartlett) Vesey. She married Raymond E. Bradfield on March 15, 1953, in Dubuque.
Carmen loved to play bingo, do quilting and visit the Dubuque Greyhound Park. She also loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond E. Bradfield, of Dubuque; two sons, James Isaacs and Richard (Paula) Bradfield, both of Dubuque; three daughters, Judy (Bernard) Meier, of Hampton, Va., Beverly (William) Fryer, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patricia (Patrick) Kennedy, of Dubuque; her son-in-law, Irv Schueller, of Dubuque; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Hank (Etta Jean) Vesey, of Delhi; and five sisters, Helen (Clifford) First, of Delhi, Harriette (Frannie) Hoey, of Lancaster, Wis., Millie (Don) Shaw, of Manchester, Iowa, and Shirley (Ken) Day and Beverly Jean Anderson, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Schueller; a brother, Edward Vesey; and two sisters, Hazel Crunch and Vivian O'Brien.
The family wishes to thank the Four West nursing staff at Mercy Medical Center, Dr. J. Bruce Abele and all the friends who visited Carmen during her illness.
