PAUL J. WILD

A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul J. Wild, a retired property appraiser, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Cathedral with the Rev. Anthony Patalano officiating. There will be a visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Wild, 70, died Nov. 17 at Providence Hospital of lung complications from rheumatoid arthritis.

Born Jan. 15, 1917, in Dubuque, Iowa, he had lived in Alaska since 1960. He received a law degree from Georgetown University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1946, when he left active duty service as a commander. He remained active in the Navy reserve for 33 years, and held the rank of captain when he retired in 1972. He worked 25 years for the state Department of Transportation and the Alaska State Housing Authority until his retirement in 1983.

He leaves his wife, Bette, of Anchorage; his son, Mike, of Sitka; his daughters, Johanna Shorey, of Baker, Ore., Barbara Jones, of Anchorage, and Mary Mounce, of Wasilla; his brothers, John, of Huntsville, Ala., and Robert, of Dubuque; his sister, Lenore Douglass, of Long Beach, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

Burial with full military honors will be in Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Arthritis Foundation, Anchorage 99510.
