William Shipton, aged 23 years, of this city died on Sunday morning at the family residence, 356 West Locust street, as a result of the most peculiar ailment brought about by a form of blood poisoning, the young man's system having become infected last October. For several weeks young Shipton was confined to his bed suffering great agony. Gradually the skin on the body began to died and would leave the body in great strips, half a yard in length, the entire covering of the body from the head to the feet leaving the body three times successively in the past three weeks. Soon as one layer of skin would died an leave the body another layer would form immediately, died and leave the body, so that during the time of his ailment the entire covering of the body removed itself three times.
Local physicians called in attendance upon the young man, stated the form of ailment most peculiar and local medical men confessed the shedding of the body's outer covering decidedly unusual. For several days past Mr. Shipton had bene unconscious.
The funeral was held on Monday afternoon at Asbury. Mr. Shipton is survived by his mother and two sisters.
