Mrs. Mary Burns, wife of Thomas J. Burns, was summoned by death yesterday evening at 10 o'clock at the family residence, 861 Bluff street, after an illness of a week's duration.
Mrs. Burns, who was born in Littleport, Ia., July 21, sixty-six years ago, had been a resident of Dubuque for thirty-five years. She was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Patrick's parish and in her last hours she was comforted by the rites of her church.
She was a member of the Guild of St. Patrick's church and of the Mercy hospital association.
She is survived by her husband, five daughters, the Misses Ella and Ruth Burns, of this city, Mrs. J.C. Braig, also of this city, Mrs. A.L. Tracy, of Clarion, Ia., and Mrs. A.L. Luick, of Belmond, Ia.; also two sisters, Mrs. F.J. Baumann, of St. Paul, Mrs. George Dean, of Dubuque, and three brothers, Michael Farrell, of this city, Edward of St. Paul, and John of West Union, Ia. Two brothers, Peter and James, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be held Thursday morning from the home to St. Patrick's church at 9 o'clock. Burial in Mt. Calvary cemetery will be private.
