Dubuque Sunday Herald Sunday September 14, 1890
At 3:55 o'clock yesterday afternoon, Patrick Welsh departed this life at his home, 1836 Washington street. Last Wednesday he was stricken with paralysis of the brain and was unconscious to the time of his death. Deceased was born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1820. He landed in America May 1, 1848, and came directly to Dubuque where he has since resided. In 1851 he married Margaret Welsh who still survives him with five children, Richard, Mary, John, Maggie and Frank. Robert died some years ago.
For ten years, deceased was watchman at Pelan & Randall's mill, after which he was janitor and bailiff at the court-house for ten years. Of late his health has kept him from steady duty. He was a member of St. Patrick's congregation also the Dubuque Catholic Benevolent society. He will be buried under the auspices of the latter, the members of which will meet at their hall to-morrow morning at 8 o'clock to attend the funeral; notice of which is elsewhere. He was a kind and loving husband, father and neighbor and his loss is sadly deplored.
