Thursday May 5, 1927 Dubuque Telegraph Herald and Times Journal
Mrs. Catherine Kennedy, widow of Martin Kennedy, died at the home in Bankston Thursday afternoon after a lingering illness. Her condition, however, did not become serious until a few days ago.
Mrs. Kennedy was born March 25, 84 years ago, and had resided in this community for many years. She is survived by nine sons and daughters, Michael, this city; Robert, New Melleray; Martin, Mrs. Thomas Smith, Mrs. James O'Meara and Mrs. Matthew Carroll, Epworth; Mrs. William Daley, John and Mrs. Henry O'Connell, Bankston, and one sister, Mrs. Ellen Callahan, this city.
This pioneer was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Clement's church in Bankston, and was comforted in her last hour by the rites of that religion. Her death brings deep sorrow to all who knew her and the family has the sympathy of the community in its bereavement.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning from the home to St. Clement's church at Bankston at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery.
