Death summoned Mrs. Katherine Welsh, well known resident of this county, at the home of her son, Vincent J. Welsh, 1840 Washington street, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. She had been ill only a short time.
Mrs. Welsh was born in Bankston 76 years ago and had resided in Dubuque since her marriage to R.C. Welsh, many years ago. For many years her husband, who passed away 23 years ago, was employed as a printer at the Telegraph-Herald.
Mrs. Welsh will live in the memory of her loved ones and many friends as a woman whose life was outstanding in its devotion to duty. Her home was a sanctuary to her from whence was radiated the sweet Christian influence of a true wife, mother and friend.
She is survived by two sons, Vincent J., this city and Raymond J. Welsh, Atlanta, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary O'Connell and Miss Margaret Callahan, both of Bankston. A son, Charles, preceded her in death 13 years ago.
The funeral will be held Wednesday morning from the home to St. Patrick's church at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
