John J. Martin, whose death occurred Thursday night, was the son of the late Michael Martin, who was at one time stewart of the poor farm. The deceased was born in Dubuque June 16, 1865. He was a young man of the most exemplary character and habits, and was much beloved by a large circle of acquaintances. He was a boiler maker by trade, and his death is due to an accident received some time ago. He was working on a scaffold and fell, breaking a rib. At the time he was not aware a rib was broken, and an abscess formed which affected his lungs and resulted in death. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Hanora Martin, three brothers, W.J., Joseph and Frank, and five sisters, Mrs. J.A. Goodell, Mrs. J.W. Henney, and Misses Mollie, Libbie and Belle. He was a member of the Iron Wood camp of Modern Woodmen, which organization will take charge of his funeral. The funeral will be held Sunday morning at 9 o'clock, from his mother's residence, 1547 Elm street. Services will be held at St. Patrick's church and interment will be at Key West.
