PIONEER LADY DEAD

Mrs. Peter Clemens for Many Years
A Resident of Dyersville,
Dies of Hearty Disease

Mrs. Mary A. Clemens, wife of Mr. Peter Clemens, Sr., died at the family residence in this city on last Wednesday morning, November 8, 1905, of rheumatism and heart trouble, at the age of sixty-six years.

Deceased was born at Bonu, in Rhenish Prussia, Germany, on November 11, 1839, and at the age of twenty years she came to America and first lived at Brooklyn, New York, where on March 10, 1859, she was married to Mr. Peter Clemens. The family moved from there to Guttenberg and in 1868, they came to Dyersville where they have since resided.

Mrs. Clemens was a thoroughly Christian lady and had a hoist of friends who regret to hear of her sudden death and extend their sympathy to the bereaved father and children.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss four daughters and six sons, Mary, wife of W. Chwala, Anna, Elisabeth and Margaret and Frank, Nicholas, Josepn, Peter, all of this city and John and Henry of Dubuque.

The funeral will take place this Friday morning at 9:30 o’clock. Requiem services will be held at St. Francis Church after which burial will take place in St. Francis Cemetery.
