Mrs. Mary McEvoy, aged 95 years (and it is even claimed that she was over 100 years old), died yesterday afternoon at the residence of Mr. Michael O'Meara on West's Hill. She was afflicted with no particular disease, but expired simply because the unceasing demands of nature had exhausted her vitality. She was a stranger to disease, and, two weeks ago, threaded a needle with out the use of glasses.

Mrs. McEvoy was a native of county Down, Ireland, and, with her husband, Patrick McEvoy, deceased, and children, emigrated to Dubuque in 1832 [it may read 1852]. She was, during her active life, an exemplary matron, Christian and neighbor.

Her surviving children are Lawrence, John, the well-known bricklayer; Mrs. Mary O'Meara, Mrs. Rittenhouse of Dubuque, Mrs. Barney Grant of Whitewater township, and Edward of Prairie Creek.

The funeral will occur today.
