Jeanne E. ClemensJeanne E. Clemens, 98, of Dubuque, formerly of 380 E. 21st St., and Sherrill, Iowa, passed away at Ennoble Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2014.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at Holy Spirit Parish, Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Dwayne J. Thoman officiating. To celebrate Jeanne's life, friends may visit from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 23, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Spirit Parish, Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Jeanne was born April 13, 1916, in Dubuque, daughter of Frank and Margaret (Derby) Morgan. Jeanne married Eldon on Nov. 10, 1937, in Dubuque, at St. Mary's Church; he preceded her in death on April 6, 2010.
Jeanne was employed as a teacher's aide at St. Mary's School for 10 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church until it closed, then she became a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Sacred Heart Church. Jeanne also was a member of the Salvation Army Senior Citizens.
Jeanne had a stand at farmers market for over 30 years selling items geared toward children, including quilts, bonnets and clothing. Some of her greatest joys were found in time spent with her family and passing hours watching her Chicago Cubs.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Michelle "Trudy" Clemens, of Dubuque, Toni (Robert) Erhart, of Keokuk, Iowa, Tina (Gus) Gerken, of Fairfax, Iowa, Ted Clemens, of Grayslake, Ill., Tim (Kathy) Clemens, of Marion, Iowa, and Todd (Debbi) Clemens, of Vera, Okla.; 27 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon; her two sons, Tom and Terry; her granddaughter, Connie Fury; and her sisters, Helen Gukeisen and Mary Larson.
A Jeanne E. Clemens Memorial Fund has been established.
