Gloria May Clemens, 82, of 1940 Avalon Road, earned her angel wings just in time for Christmas on Dec. 22, 2007 at 4:30 p.m., at home with her family by her side, following a year-long battle with lung cancer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Gloria worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 30 years, retiring in 1982. After retiring, she worked for J.C. Penney Cosmetic Department for another 10 years.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1925, daughter of Richard G. Rink and Leona M. Schaan. Gloria attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and graduated from the former St. Joseph's Academy in Dubuque.
Gloria was an avid mall-walker and made many friends there. She also enjoyed the monthly parties at the Salvation Army with her dearest friend, Marlene Smothers. They shared many bus trips together and much laughter. Throughout her life she enjoyed several trips to Las Vegas, especially the most recent one with her three children and grandson, just a month ago.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her four children, Ron (Rose) Clemens, of Port Townsend, Wash., Rick (Lynn) Clemens, of Austin, Texas, Randie (Mei Tong) Clemens, of Loves Park, Ill., and Robinette (James) Meyer, of Port Townsend, Wash.; a grandson, Jay (Carla) Neal, of Cocoa, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Caryssa and Elliott Neal, of Cocoa Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers a Gloria Clemens Memorial Fund has been established.

A special thank-you to Dr. Mark Hermann and all of his "pole dancing" girls, which made Gloria's chemo treatments fun. And a very special thank you to all of the people at Hospice of Dubuque, especially nurse Kelly and social worker Jennie, who made Gloria laugh right to the end, Thank You.
