Salem Special, Salem, SD Sept 5, 1957 **

A Solemn Requiem High Mass was read this Thursday morning in St. Mary's
church for the funeral of William Sabers, who died Sept 2, 1957 at a Mitchell hospital.

Rev U.J. Rodenbur, of Parkston, was the celebrant, Rev P.C. Conway was Deacon and Rev. R.L. Grabowski, Sub-deacon. Pallbearers were Clarence Tuschen, Ralph Sabers, Clarence Puetz, Alen Ketelsleger, Marion Forster and Albert Hipschman. Interment was in St. Mary's
Cemetery. The Kinzley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William Sabers was born November 29, 1881 at New Vienna, Iowa. This was his home until his marriage to Miss Anna Osterhaus at New Vienna, on January 19, 1904. The couple moved to a farm near Salem, and have lived in this vicinity
ever since their marriage. In 1944 they retired from farming and moved to town. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1954.

Mr. Sabers was a member of St. Mary's Parish. He had been in poor health for the past year. At the time of his death his age was 75 years, nine months and three days.

He is survived by his widow; four daughters; Esther, Mrs. Al Mentele, and Marcella, Mrs. Carl Keopke, of Spencer; Muriel, Mrs. Herman Gstohl of Salem;and Elvira, Mrs. Lowell Herting
of Concord, California; six sons, Elmer and
Gilbert of Bellflower, California; Edgar and Melvin of Salem, SD; Gerald, with the Army in Germany, and Willard of Tacoma, Washington; four brothers, John and Andy Sabers of Salem, SD; Anton Sabers of Dubuque, Iowa; and Art Sabers of New Vienna, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Von Lehmden of New Vienna, Iowa; Mrs. Elizabeth Puetz and Mrs. Louis Ketelsleger of Salem; 35 grandchildren and one great grandchild. A son, Alfred, and a daughter, Leona, preceded their father in death.
