Fred Link, Sr., 78, pioneer who lived his entire life in Dubuque County, died at his home in Balltown at 10 o’clock Thursday morning. He had been ill several months. Funeral services will be held from the home to St. Francis Church, Balltown, at 10 o’clock Saturday morning. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Link was born in Concord Township, July 4, 1856, son of late Frederick and Caroline Link. He was married to Emma Rolwes at Holy Cross, Feb. 18, 1889. The couple farmed on the old homestead in Concord Township until 18 years ago, when they retired and moved to Balltown.

The survivors are the widow, four sons, Fred Jr., North Buena Vista; Aloysius, Balltown; Arthur North Buena Vista; and Werner at home; one daughter, Miss Emma, New Vienna; three brothers, George, Balltown; Charles, Waukon; and Edward, Spokane, Wash. There are 17 grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters and a daughter, Lidwina, preceded him in death,
Mr. Link was always active in township and county affairs during his years on the farm and interested himself in the affairs in the town after his retirement.
