SINSINAWA, Wis. — Sister Marielle Schmitt, OP, died Jan. 15, 2019.

The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Sinsinawa Motherhouse. A wake service will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 6:30 p.m.

She taught kindergarten at St. Joseph the Worker, Dubuque (1956-1962); St. Dominic, Washington, D.C.; Annunciation, Minneapolis; St. Luke, River Forest, Ill.; Our Lady of Mercy, Bronx, N.Y., and she taught intermediate grades in Sioux City, Iowa; Kansas City, Mo.; and Dixon, Ill. Later she served as librarian at St. Giles, Oak Park, Ill., and at Edgewood Campus School, Madison, Wis. She did pastoral care at Holy Rosary Parish, Minneapolis, and St. Dominic Villa, Dubuque.

Sister Marielle was born July 27, 1918, to Hugo and Roberta (Miller) Schmitt.

She is survived by nieces, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters.
