Pioneer Resident of County Is Called

Mr. G. M. Leibold passed away last Friday afternoon. He was a resident of Dubuque County for 65 years. Funeral took place last Sunday.
Rickardsville, Iowa, March 25--Mr. G. M. Leibold, one of Dubuque County's oldest settlers, passed away at the home of his son Matt, near Farley last Friday afternoon (3/19/1914) at 3 o'clock, his death being due to old age.

Mr. Leibold was born at Bavaria, Germany, July 2, 1824, and was 89 years, 8 months, 16 days old at the time of his demise. At age 24 he emigrated to this country, settling on a farm near here. In 1852 he married Miss Katherine Bisenius at Dubuque and their union was blessed with six children, four of whom are living. They are Theresia, now Mrs. Aloysius Meyer of Howard, South Dakota; John of Arizona; Matt of Farley; and Mike of New Hampton. Mrs. Leibold died about 28 years ago, since which time the deceased has made his home with his son Matt at Farley, where his death occurred. In the death of Mr. Leibold, Dubuque County loses another of its earliest pioneers. He was a man of sterling interity, upright in all his dealings and counted his friends by the score.

He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church all through his life and was well prepared to meet his Maker, when death called him to his reward. His surviving children have the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement. The funeral was held Sunday to Rickardsville, where services were conducted by Father Clark, after which his earthly remains were laid to rest beside those of his wife in the Catholic cemetery.
