Gerald was born on January 19, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Clement Peter and Mary Elizabeth (McClain) Theisen.
Gerald was a lifelong Dubuque resident and a proud graduate of Nativity School. He was a hard working man, who faithfully devoted 23 years of his working career to the Dubuque Community School District as a Utility Person, until his well deserved retirement in 2001. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Irene Kelly, on September 25, 1965, at St. Anthony's Church. They were blessed with 51 wonderful years together and one son. Gerald was a loving husband, father and grandfather who continually provided a positive role model for the generations below to follow. We will surely miss our dear Gerald, but we know that our separation is temporary and that one day we will all be reunited again for our eternal family reunion.
Those left to cherish Gerald's memory include his loving wife, Irene Theisen, Dubuque, IA; his son, Gerald (Jeanne) Theisen, Dubuque, IA; his 3 grandchildren, Jesse Theisen, Deanna (John) Theisen-Peiffer and Alec Theisen, all of Dubuque, IA; and 3 great-grandchildren, Madelyn Peiffer, Julia Peiffer and Benjamin Peiffer, all of Dubuque, IA.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; and a younger brother, Kenneth Theisen.
