The Dubuque Herald, March, 26, 1896
Mrs. Margaret Flynn, the venerable mother of John Flynn, route agent for the American Express Company, died at the family residence, 65 Dorgan Place, at 10:25 o’clock yesterday morning, after a lingering illness patiently borne. Mrs. Flynn was a native of Limerick, Ireland, where she was borne in 1817. With her husband, Maurice, who died about sixteen years ago, she came to Dubuque in 1849, and had since permanently resided here. Of the six children born of the union but two, John and Maurice, both residents of this city, survive. Mrs. Flynn was a devout Christian, a model mother and helpful neighbor, and her death is greatly regretted.
