CASCADE, Iowa - William G. Connell, 60, of Cascade, formerly of Randolph, Wis., died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at St. Martin's Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating and the Rev. Michael Wild concelebrating. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Friends also may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, where there will be a memorial service at 6 p.m. The Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on April 24, 1949, in Clinton, son of Leo and Estella (Welsh) Connell. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in De Witt and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

He married Laurie Loes on Nov. 9, 1985, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade.

William owned and operated the Randolph Hardware Store in Randolph.

Surviving are his wife, Laurie Connell, of Randolph, formerly of Cascade; four children, Brian Connell, of Cascade, Benjamin Connell, of Dubuque, Megan Connell, at home, and Joseph Connell, of Atlanta; a sister, Mary Sinatra, of Clackamas, Ore.; and a brother, Alan Connell, of De Witt; and his father and mother-in-law, Frederick and Patricia Loes, of Cascade.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Wayne Connell.

In lieu of flowers, a William G. Connell Memorial Fund has been established.
