Mary C. Connolly CASCADE, Iowa - Mary C. Connolly, 87, of ManorCare Health Services, Dubuque, formerly of Cascade, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011. at ManorCare Health Services. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a Cascade American Legion Auxiliary Service at 3:30 p.m. and a wake service at 5 p.m.

She was born on May 19, 1924, in Bernard, daughter of Lawrence and Teresa (Takes) Decker. She attended the Bernard Elementary School and graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Garryowen. She married Joseph Connolly on Sept. 19, 1944, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Garryowen; he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1983. Mary's interests included watching sporting events on TV, especially Cubs baseball and Iowa Hawkeyes basketball and football. Of no less importance, she was active in the fine art of slot machine play. She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary and the Shady Rest Auxiliary in Cascade.

Surviving are six children, Kenneth (Judy) Connolly, of Valrico, Fla., Mary Lou Jarms, of Tucson, Ariz., Sharon (Jack) Storer, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Beverly (Bill) Cigrand, of Tucson, Michael (Sharon) Connolly, of Denver, and Allan (Peggy) Connolly, of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Rosemary (Bob) Devaney, of Monticello, Betty Johnson, of Denver, Jean McClain, of Dubuque, Loretta McCarthy, of Bernard, and Sally (Jim) Hoerner, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Don Jarms; a grandson, Matthew Cigrand; two sisters, Veronica Gross and Imelda McDermott; and two brothers, Earl Decker and Leo Hirtz.
