CASCADE, Iowa - Roger N. Noel, 76, of Cascade, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, due to pneumonia.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthias Catholic Church, Cascade. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Dan Krapfl officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m. Friends also may call from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Roger was born on March 11, 1930, in La Motte, son of John C. and Josephine (Loewn) Noel. He graduated from high school within the Dubuque school district.

He married Rita Holl on May 30, 1949, in Dyersville. Together they moved to Cedar Rapids, as Roger worked at Cargill for 27 years until retirement in 1995.

They then moved to Cascade and he began working seasonally for Three Rivers FS for about 10 years, and worked as a rural carrier for the Gazette, for about three years.

Surviving are five daughters, Carol (Mike) Sheneberger and Marlene (Ron) Primrose, both of Cedar Rapids, Joan (Larry) Milbach and Charlotte (Al) Osterhaus, both of Marion, and Grace (William) Bohr, of Anamosa; a son, David (Jane) Noel, of Lancaster, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, Jeff and Chad Sheneberger, Kate (Thad) Ramsey, Joe (Anna) Milbach, Marie and Nick Bohr, Byron, Andrea and Elizabeth Noel, and John and Ann Osterhaus; a great-grandchild, Kaleb Ramsey; a brother, Edmond (Euphrosina) Noel, of De Witt; four brothers-in-law, Carl (Pauline) Holl, of Leapolis, Wis., Walter (Eleanor) Holl, of San Diego, Calif., Joe (Marian) Holl, of Ryan, and Eldon Holl, of San Francisco; four sisters-in-law, Gen Goldman, of Bend, Ore., Mary (Bob) Hazen, of Oakland, Calif., Ethel (Charles) Diers, of San Ramon, Calif., and Annie (Chris) Schmitz, of Napa, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita, on Nov. 5, 2005; a son, Daniel; two brothers, Meneve and LaVerne Noel; a sister, Celestine Vanderah; a brother-in-law, Eddie Holl; and 2 sisters-in-law, Alverna Wadsworth and Rosie Mattarazzi.
