NEW VIENNA, Iowa -Michael A. Boeckenstedt, 55, of New Vienna, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, as the result of a weather-related accident near Mud Lake.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with the Rev. John O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 3 p.m.

Mr. Boeckenstedt began working for M.F. Goerdt Construction and moved on to J.F. Brennan Co., where he worked for 25 years.

He was born on March 16, 1950, in Dubuque, son of Lawrence and Charlotte (Lammers) Boeckenstedt. He married Bev Tegeler on Aug. 29, 1970, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville

He graduated from Beckman High School, class of 1968.

He was a member of Local 234, the St. Boniface Holy Name Society and Tri-County Sportsmen Club.

Mike loved the outdoors as evidenced by his ability to identify any tree by its leaf or bark.

His grandchildren were his pride and joy, so he planted a tree for each of them on their acreage when they were born.

Other activities he loved were mushroom hunting, deer hunting and fishing. He also had a great love for his bulldozer.

Surviving are his wife, Bev; two daughters, Julie (G.J.) Clothier, of Epworth, and Jan (Marty) Schwers, of Luxemburg; four grandchildren, Libby, Spencer and Mitchell Schwers and Ellie Clothier, and an expected grandchild due June 3; two brothers, Richard (Judy), of Dyersville, and Larry (Darlene), of New Vienna; a sister-in-law, Marilyn (Melvin) Brimeyer, of Dubuque; his father-in-law, Elmer Tegeler, and a sister-in-law, Jane (Don) Ungs, both of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lee, on March 23, 1996; and his mother-in-law, Edna Tegeler.
