HOLY CROSS, Iowa - Anastasia M. Stillmunkes, 94, of Holy Cross, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Holy Cross, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

She was born on Jan. 22, 1911, in Balltown, daughter of Mathias and Regina (Meyer) Jaeger. She walked to Balltown for school until her First Communion, and then attended Plum Creek School.

She married Alphonse G. Stillmunkes on Oct. 4, 1933, in Balltown; he preceded her in death on April 11, 1983. Together they farmed in the Asbury area from 1933 to 1936, and in the Holy Cross area from 1936 to 1964.

Anastasia was a member of the Holy Cross Senior Citizens, the Holy Cross Rosary Society and the Catholic Order of Forester Court 881 of Holy Cross.

She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, embroidering, playing bingo and playing cards. Her favorite activity was baby-sitting.

Surviving are a daughter, Shirley (Jack) Domeyer, of Holy Cross; a son, Roger (Sharon) Stillmunkes, of Holy Cross; 11 grandchildren, Carl and Karen Domeyer, Terry and Kim Domeyer, Dale and Jody Domeyer, James Domeyer, Jeff and Melissa Domeyer and Ted and Kristen Domeyer, Jerome and Dori Stillmunkes, Jean Ann and Mark Schmitt, Daniel and Angie Stillmunkes, Ann Marie and Jeff West and Alan Stillmunkes; 25 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Clara Jaeger, of Holy Cross.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Alfred, Ralph and Arthur Jaeger, and a sister, Lorene (Aloysius) Brecht.
