Florence A. Scherbring, 88, of Dyersville, died Monday, June 20, 2005, in her home after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Francis Xavier Basilica, by the Rev. Jerry Kopacek. Burial: St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, with a Scripture service at 4 p.m.

Survivors include her son, Terry (Twyla) Scherbring of Oelwein; a daughter, Becky (Carl) Schwendinger of Dyersville; nine grandchildren, Melissa and Matt Scherbring, both of Bettendorf, Kate Scherbring of Milwaukee, Sarah, Allyson and Lauren Schwendinger, all at home, Brenda (Lars) Antholz of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Benjamin (Stacey) Scherbring and Bryan (Becky) Scherbring, both of Omaha; and two sisters, Grace Wieneke of Dyersville and Ruth Green of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred "Fritz" Scherbring in 1979; a son, Robert Scherbring in 2001; a grandson, Sam Schwendinger; three brothers, Charles Burger, Ray Burger and Robert Burger; and two sisters, Helen Jarding and Lucille Hess.
